Tutors: how to get found when parents ask AI for a tutor
A parent has a 15-year-old with a maths exam in three weeks. They've asked friends, checked a few community boards, and now they ask an AI assistant.
Some customers now ask an AI assistant to find someone local (how that works). The assistant can only suggest a tutor whose subjects, levels and rates it can find written down.
Questions parents and students might ask
- "Find a maths tutor for a 15-year-old preparing for exams, online or near me."
- "Who teaches beginner piano to adults on weekday evenings?"
- "Is there a French tutor who does conversation practice, under 40 an hour?"
What to write down
- Subjects and levels. "Maths, ages 13 to 18, exam prep" is far easier to match than "tutor". Use the year, grade or exam names parents in your area use.
- Online, in person or both. If in person, say where: your place, theirs or a library.
- Your rate. Per hour or per session. "From 40 an hour" lets an assistant answer a budget question. Ivy shows one starting price, so put others, like group rates, in your services.
- When you're free. Ivy has no opening hours field yet, so add something like "weekday evenings and Saturdays" to your services.
Background checks: say so if you have one
Many parents want to know a tutor has been checked before they book. If you have a police background check for working with children, say so. Don't claim one you don't have.
